Take part!
Take part in the expansion of the NaziCrimesAtlas!
We train and support!
How do you find file numbers and document signatures in the archive? How do you deal competently with historical sources? What do sources say, what is between the lines? Where can you find secondary literature? We impart the necessary specialist knowledge in our workshops – scientifically correct, but easy to understand.
We are expanding the information!
The NaziCrimesAtlas application forms the basis for online and on-site research. New documents, precise details of crime scenes or images are continuously added to the application via a CSM system. In this way, the knowledge and documentation of Nazi crimes grows with public history. And – yes, there is still a lot to discover and tell.
Examples of extensions:
- Historical photos (holdings of municipal, state and national archives, private individuals)
Recording of contemporary photos (stumbling blocks, memorials and memorial sites) - Creation of location maps for a crime (e.g. place of arrest of a persecuted person, e.g. home, place of first imprisonment, e.g. police station, transportation to a collection camp or train station for deportation to a concentration camp, etc.)
- Interviews with descendants of victims
- Links to articles in historical publications or newspapers.
- References to existing historical initiatives (stumbling blocks, other forms of civic engagement)
- Researching further historical documents (newspaper articles, reports in international media, letters from persecuted people, diaries, etc.)
- References to research already carried out (e.g. work as part of the German History School Competition, history associations, publications)
- References to projects supported by the Foundation EVZ in the past and present
- References to allied trials (Nuremberg IMT, American successor trials, etc.) (Memorium Nuremberg Trials)
- References to memorial sites in the Federal Republic of Germany (concentration camp memorials, sanatoriums and nursing homes, execution sites, prisons, etc.)
We support local remembrance work!
We support remembrance work on the ground. To this end, we are looking for initiatives, universities, civil society groups, schools, associations and all interested parties to join us in further researching and deepening remembrance at the sites of Nazi crimes, preserving the memory and reshaping it in a contemporary way.
