dieKunstBauStelle e. V.

The non-profit organization dieKunstBauStelle e. V. was founded in Landsberg am Lech in 2014 by the artist Wolfgang Hauck. Since then, the association has been promoting art, culture, education and youth work with numerous projects. For over 10 years, the association has focused on innovative history projects that incorporate new media and actively involve young people. A particular concern is the development of new forms of commemoration and the promotion of a contemporary culture of remembrance, especially with regard to the history of the 20th century.
In Landsberg am Lech, which the National Socialists called the “City of Youth”, the traces of their tyranny are particularly visible. The town therefore bears a special responsibility for remembrance work. Landsberg played a central role at the beginning and end of National Socialism: Adolf Hitler was imprisoned here in 1923-1924, and War Criminal Prison No. 1 and Displaced Persons Camp No. 1 were established after the war. The association therefore launched several history projects in Landsberg, which were later extended to Bavaria and Germany.
The association dieKunstBauStelle e. V. sees it as its task to initiate, research and develop new forms of historical reappraisal. It uses cultural, media and artistic techniques to make history accessible to all generations. This includes both the preservation of knowledge and the facilitation of commemoration and remembrance.
Examples of projects on the culture of remembrance:
- The labyrinth – 100 years of Hitler’s imprisonment in Landsberg (2024)
- BayernHistoryApp (ongoing since 2021)
- Wolf Durmashkin Composition Award (2018 / 2024)
- Türkenmariandl – Preservation and remembrance (2027)
- Set the Night on Fire (2022)
- Preserve, remember, commemorate (2022)
