Execution of a Ukrainian foreign worker for looting and a Dutchman who wanted to swim to the Allies. March 1945 in Cologne-Deutz: Volkssturm captured a Ukrainian foreign worker who had repeatedly escaped from a foreigner camp. NSDAP local group leader ordered execution for looting. A Volkssturm soldier and a member of the Hitler Youth shot the Ukrainian. A few days later, a Dutchman was apprehended who had attempted to swim to the American-occupied left bank of the Rhine. He was suspected of being a spy because he was carrying a map. A Volkssturm soldier shot the Dutchman from behind. The app shows an abridged version. The complete data entry contains further details.
