Funding: Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future

Founding

With the support of all parliamentary groups in the German Bundestag, the law founding the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) was passed on 2 August 2000. It was a legal and moral milestone, enabling individual humanitarian payments to former forced labourers and others affected by Nazi injustice, and keeping alive the memory of the wrong done to them.

Mission

The mission of the EVZ Foundation is to keep alive the memory of National Socialist persecution and to advocate for human rights and international understanding. In the light of its founding history, the EVZ Foundation is particularly active in central and eastern Europe, in Israel and in Germany.

Bildungsagenda NS-Unrecht

The projects within the Bildungsagenda NS-Unrecht make visible the fates of persecuted people and groups — with a particular focus on those who have so far received less public attention. The agenda brings forward cultural and digital formats that promote exchange and demand participation.

Funding for the NaziCrimesAtlas

The NaziCrimesAtlas was funded under the Bildungsagenda NS-Unrecht by the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) and the German Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF). Funding period: April 2024 to December 2025.
